The Best Times to Post According to Studies

The most brilliant marketers know more than lay out the best strategies for business growth. Above all, they understand the importance of being at the right time at the right place. A vendor selling umbrellas would surely want to be in the middle of a sudden downpour because there is a great chance for his goods to be sold out in a wink. Likewise, you would like to hold your trade fairs and bazaars during paydays when people have the means to spend and indulge.

Thus, after perfectly crafting your email newsletter, polishing your pay-per-click (PPC) ad, composing your social media feed, or editing your podcast episode; there is one more thing left to do. Even in the digital landscape, you want to determine the perfect timing to send your online campaigns so they will yield the most favorable result. Fortunately, there are researches and studies that can smartly serve as a guide to your digital marketing strategies.

Right timing depends on various factors

However, it pays to remember that various studies on the most opportune time to do your online campaigns can have different results. This is because the perfect timing carefully considers factors such as your target audience, buyer persona, the kind of industry, and even the time zones of certain areas. This means that to help you come up with the best sales and marketing strategy for your business, there are some researches and studies you may want to take note of. Still, the results of studies are not absolute magic formulas but are simply guides based on data and research that can increase your chances of success.  Let us take a look at the following:

Best time to send an e-newsletter

According to a 2020 report from Campaign Monitor, you would want to send your email campaigns on a Tuesday because this day registers the highest open rates. Meanwhile, it is not advisable to schedule emails on a Saturday because the report shows that this day registers the lowest open rate. As to the best time to send emails, a study from GetResponse shows that 10 AM on a weekday is ideal. Both reports suggest that it is better to send emails on a weekday since it is probably the time when people are at the office and have time to check their messages. Sending emails on a weekend may not be so successful since people are probably engaged in other stuff that will prevent them from checking out emails.  However, the right time to send emails can also depend on your recipients. One study from Experian shows that even weekends are a good time to send B2B emails for people who hold high positions in a company such as managers, supervisors, and owners. This report says that for business owners and company managers, 10 AM on Saturdays generates the highest click-through and open rates. The perfect timing slightly differs in B2B emails for average office employees as the report says that 10 AM on midweek has the best open and click-through rate.

Best time to schedule a podcast episode

To have a high number of downloads on your podcast show; you may want to release your episode on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. This is according to a report from Income School saying that people are likely to download podcast shows on the days mentioned above. The same report also shows that it is not a good idea to publish a podcast on a weekend because Saturday and Sunday generate the lowest downloads.

Another study was done by Luke Riley, a data analyst shows similarity to the Income School report as it cites Tuesday, 5 AM as the time when podcasts get the most downloads. There are many downloads as well during Thursday and Friday, both at 5 AM, Thursday

Best time to post on social media

To determine the best time to post a status on social media, you need to have in-depth knowledge about your target audience and analyze their behaviors. It is likewise important to note that events and changes in society can cause changes in how people use social media. This is why a Sprout Social study released last March citing that Wednesday and Friday from 11 AM to 12 PM generate the best engagement has recently changed due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In its new report, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 AM to 11 AM are now the best times to days and time to post on Facebook.

The same study similarly notes changes that happened on Instagram. In the first report, the best engagement days on Instagram are Wednesday, 11 AM, and Friday, 10 AM – 11 AM. Due to the pandemic, the best days on Instagram are now Monday, Tuesday, 2 PM, and Friday, 11 AM. Meanwhile, the report noticed just a slight change in LinkedIn’s best engagement days. Today, the best days to schedule your LinkedIn post are Wednesday, 3 PM, Thursday, 9–10 AM, and Friday, 11 AM.
